A long time ago, when I first started crafting, I had no idea about the different types of yarn. I began with leftover yarn from my mother and later simply bought colors I liked. Most of the yarn I used back then was inexpensive and bought from larger retail chains.
Around the age of 25, I started buying yarn more consciously. By then, I had a little more to spend, and it was only then that I discovered there are significant quality differences in yarn. I also noticed that there are quality differences within acrylic yarn. Cheaper acrylic yarns tend to be uneven and have a dull appearance, while other acrylic yarns feel very soft and smooth. I also noticed that cheaper acrylic yarn often makes an annoying squeaky sound while crocheting or knitting.
One time, I got so annoyed by the squeaking that I spent minutes "polishing" my knitting needle, convinced it was too greasy. Of course, that wasn’t the case the squeaking continued. Out of frustration, I ended up putting my knitting project aside and never finished it.
Over the years, I have gained a lot of knowledge about different types of yarn. Acrylic, although a synthetic material, has been brought to a much higher quality level by some well-known yarn brands. In my shop, I now offer beautiful high-quality acrylic yarns that are incredibly soft and create stunning results in both knitting and crochet projects.
Nako Vega Stripe is a premium acrylic yarn that is very soft and a true pleasure to work with, featuring a beautiful color gradient.
Acrylic yarn is relatively affordable and a great choice for beginner crocheters and knitters. It is easy to care for and can often be washed in the washing machine.
Acrylic is also frequently blended with other materials to add extra strength to the yarn and to keep it affordable.
